The Role

We are seeking a Casual Retail Assistant to join our Elka Collective team within David Jones Bondi.

Located in one of Sydney’s busiest and most fashion-focused shopping destinations, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating genuine connections with customers and has a strong interest in fashion and styling.

As part of the Bondi team, you’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming and elevated experience for every customer who visits the Elka Collective space. You’ll assist customers in finding pieces that suit their individual style, provide thoughtful styling recommendations and help ensure the brand is presented to a high standard within the David Jones environment.

You’ll also work closely with the wider team to support daily sales, stock management, merchandising and the smooth running of the concession.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, personalised customer service that reflects the Elka Collective brand
• Build genuine relationships with customers and understand their individual needs
• Confidently recommend products, outfits and styling options
• Assist customers throughout their shopping journey, from product discovery through to purchase
• Maintain a polished and organised Elka Collective presentation within David Jones Bondi
• Ensure stock is replenished and the sales floor remains well presented
• Assist with deliveries, stock transfers and inventory management
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently
• Support visual merchandising and ensure brand standards are consistently maintained
• Work collaboratively with the Elka Collective and David Jones teams
• Contribute to achieving sales targets and store performance goals
• Create a positive, energetic environment for both customers and team members

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is naturally friendly, confident and passionate about fashion.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in fashion, retail, customer service or a similar customer-facing role
• A genuine interest in styling and contemporary fashion
• The confidence to approach customers and start meaningful conversations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A natural ability to understand a customer’s personal style and recommend suitable products
• A proactive and positive attitude in a busy retail environment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
• The ability to work independently while also contributing to a close-knit team
• Flexibility to work across weekends, peak trading periods and a casual retail roster
