ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

As Senior Planner you will own and optimise the wholesale merchandise financial strategy for Designworks.

Reporting to the GM – Strategic Planning & Business Improvement, you’ll operate as a senior commercial partner across Sales, Product, Supply Chain and Finance, translating business objectives into robust financial plans, actionable insights and risk mitigation strategies that drive profitable growth.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role, ideal for a commercially astute planner who thrives on influencing outcomes without direct authority.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Owning the end-to-end wholesale financial plan across sales, margin and inventory
  • Developing seasonal and annual budgets aligned to growth and profitability targets
  • Leading scenario modelling and reforecasting to manage risk, demand volatility and commercial opportunity
  • Partnering with Sales to build account-level financial plans that maximise revenue and margin
  • Aligning trade calendars with inventory flow and financial targets
  • Influencing range architecture, SKU depth and lifecycle decisions through data-led insights
  • Delivering weekly and monthly performance reporting with clear commercial recommendations
  • Identifying process and reporting improvements to strengthen planning effectiveness
  • Championing best-practice planning disciplines across the wholesale function

 

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years’ experience in Merchandise Planning within retail or wholesale environments
  • Proven experience managing significant financial portfolios and delivering commercial growth
  • Strong understanding of wholesale demand variability and inventory risk management
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability
  • Deep margin optimisation expertise
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex data into clear decisions
  • High-level stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operationally
