ROLE IN A NUTSHELL
Reporting to the Head of Footwear, we are seeking an exceptional Area Manager to join our Footwear team, supporting a network of Hush Puppies stores and Myer Footwear concessions across NSW & QLD. This hands-on, sales-led, people-driven role is ideal for a leader who thrives on accountability, coaching, relationship building, and driving performance through people.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the overall performance of your region in line with business strategy to maximise profitable sales. You’ll:

• Lead a culture of selling excellence, ensuring KPIs are understood, owned, and embedded across your stores and concessions.
• Drive sales growth, productivity, and profitability across the region.
• Coach and develop Store Managers and Multi-Site leaders to build leadership capability and a strong internal talent pipeline.
• Build strong relationships with Myer stakeholders and external retail partners.
• Drive excellence in people management, operational standards, and inventory control.
• Own roster planning, reviewing and optimising schedules to balance sales opportunities and wage control, while coaching leaders on effective planning.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, recommending strategies to enhance sales, productivity, team performance, and operational execution.
• Manage performance, achieve KPI targets, and motivate teams to succeed.
• Create an empowering and inclusive culture that drives accountability and commercial thinking.
• Handle escalated store or customer complaints with professionalism.
• Confidently manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
• Spend regular time in stores leading from the floor and supporting teams where it matters most.

ABOUT YOU
You’re commercially minded, people-focused, and passionate about retail leadership. You bring:

• Proven Area Management experience within footwear, fashion apparel, or specialty retail.
• OR strong Senior Cluster/Multi-Site leadership experience with readiness to step into an Area Manager role.
• A track record of driving sales, improving productivity, and engaging teams, with strong KPI knowledge.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management capability.
• Experience building high-performing, customer-focused team cultures.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Analytical and commercially driven decision-making capability.
• A mindset for innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
• Self-driven motivation with a hunger for growth and development.
• Strong communication, inclusivity, and team-listening skills.
• Ability to move with urgency, think on your feet, and lead from the floor.
• Flexibility to travel regularly across NSW & QLD and attend the Sydney Support Office as required.
