ROLE IN A NUTSHELL
Reporting to the Head of Retail, we are seeking an exceptional Area Manager to lead our Queensland stores across the Black Pepper network.
This is a hands-on, sales-led, people-driven leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on accountability, coaching teams, and translating commercial insights and numbers into action.
Ideally based in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you’ll take ownership of store performance across Queensland, working closely with Store Managers to drive sales, develop talent, elevate customer experience and deliver operational excellence.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the overall performance of your Queensland region in line with business strategy to maximise profitable sales. You’ll:

Lead a culture of selling excellence across your stores, ensuring KPIs are understood, owned and embedded.

Coach and develop Store Managers and teams to deliver strong sales results and exceptional customer experiences.

Drive growth of the customer database, converting new customers into loyal advocates while nurturing existing customers.

Own regional performance, using data and commercial insights to identify opportunities, address gaps and drive action.

Drive excellence across people management, visual merchandising, inventory control and store operations.

Lead roster planning, reviewing and optimising schedules to maximise sales opportunities while maintaining cost control.

Upskill Store Managers in effective workforce planning, commercial decision-making and performance management.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives, recommending strategies to improve sales, team performance, stock management and systems.

Manage performance against key business metrics, motivate teams and celebrate success.

Nurture and grow your direct reports, building a strong talent pipeline and succession plans across the Queensland retail network.

Handle escalated store or customer matters with professionalism and sound judgement.

Confidently manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development and performance management.

Partner with the wider retail and support teams to ensure consistent execution of business priorities across the region.

Proven Area Management experience within the retail sector.

Strong commercial and KPI knowledge, with the ability to analyse data and turn insights into action.
