As our Senior Payroll Officer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accurate, compliant and timely delivery of payroll across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Head of Payroll & HRIS, you'll take ownership of Support Office payroll processing, administer compliance obligations including Super and Payroll Tax, audit payroll activity and act as the key escalation point for complex payroll matters. You'll also contribute to payroll governance, continuous improvement and business projects that help shape the future of payroll at Brand Collective.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Managing end-to-end monthly payroll processing for Support Office team members across Australia, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
  • Auditing payroll activity and support the broader payroll team to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Administering key payroll obligations including Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation, STP reporting and year-end activities.
  • Acting as the primary escalation point for complex payroll queries, providing expert advice to team members, leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Owning payroll compliance activities, ensuring payroll practices align with legislation, awards, employment contracts and internal policies.
  • Leading payroll quality assurance, audit activities and governance initiatives to strengthen controls and minimise risk.
  • Supporting payroll system enhancements, testing, business projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Partnering with Finance, People & Culture, IT and operational stakeholders to deliver a high-performing payroll function.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • 3-5 years' experience in end-to-end Australian payroll processing within a high-volume or complex payroll environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including Fair Work, NES, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, STP and related compliance obligations.
  • Proven experience interpreting Awards, EBAs and employment contracts, with General Retail Industry Award exposure highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in large payroll systems such as Dayforce, Chris21, SAP, PayGlobal or similar.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations, grouping, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll matters.
  • High attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement, governance and delivering exceptional service to stakeholders.
  • Exposure to New Zealand payroll, retail environments or payroll transformation projects will be highly regarded.
