ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

As our Fabric Technologist, you will be responsible for managing the technical and quality aspects of fabrics used across the product range. This role involves evaluating and testing fabric performance, maintaining a comprehensive fabric library, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, and ensuring all materials meet brand standards for quality, compliance, and sustainability.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Collaborate with Head of Design and suppliers to source fabrics that align with seasonal direction, product needs, and commercial goals.
  • Stay up to date on fabric innovation, sustainability trends, and new technologies.
  • Support the design team with strike off approvals and email communication with suppliers
  • Coordinate fabric testing (e.g., colorfastness, shrinkage, pilling) with suppliers to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results
  • Identify risks or issues at sampling time
  • Build strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure consistency, innovation, and compliance with ethical sourcing practices
  • Preparing of monthly fabric reports prior to bulk orders being placed
  • Updating and maintaining the bulk records
  • Organise fabric swatches by category and maintain accurate specifications for team reference
  • Ensure all fabrics meet relevant compliance standards (chemical restrictions, safety standards, environmental policies, etc.).

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will come with..

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within fashion or textile development
  • Experience working with offshore suppliers and managing technical communication
  • Tertiary qualification in Textile Technology, Fashion, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of fabric types, constructions, testing standards, and finishing processes
  • Understanding of fabric sustainability and compliance standards
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
